A research station in marine acoustics in the St. Lawrence River will be launched next spring. This project, unique in the world, is co-directed by the Institut des sciences de la mer de Rimouski (ISMER) of the Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR) and the Centre de recherche appliquée en Innovation maritime (IMAR).
Deployed in the center of the Laurentian Channel, near Rimouski, this project will collect data on the sound footprint of ships transiting the St. Lawrence, which will allow to find solutions to reduce it in order to protect marine mammals.
OpDAQ Systems and Multi-Electronics are proud to be associated with this project, a great accomplishment to be pioneers with this unique marine acoustics research station in the world.
